On September 1, a restorer meticulously repairs fragile pages of an ancient Chinese medical book at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine. The university houses a collection of over 20,000 ancient books, including more than 200 volumes on Hunan's local traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Since 2023, with support from relevant projects, the university has set up restoration facilities and provided technical training. It has completed the restoration of a number of ancient books such as Yi Zong Jin Jian (Golden Mirror of Medicine), and built an ancient book database for Hunan's local TCM. The university has also launched courses on ancient book preservation and established the Qihuang Ancient Book Preservation and Appreciation Association, which has over 170 members. The association has organized lectures, thread-bound book making workshops, and other activities to promote the revitalization and utilization of precious ancient medical books across multiple dimensions.
