By 2028, Hunan aims to foster over 150 corporate brands and 50 regional brands, and identify a number of nationally-recognized consumer brands, creating a batch of Hunan benchmark brands with strong market competitiveness, brand influence, and cultural appeal across China.
Hunan's famous consumer brands cover sectors that directly serve consumers, including food, pharmaceuticals, light industry, and textiles. Corporate brands fall into three categories—historical classics, contemporary premium products, and trendy emerging brands. The plan also encourages applications for brands designed for specific groups including the elderly, people with disabilities, women, and children.
Regional brands focus on leading local brands that feature distinctive industries, clear regional identity, and strong industrial recognition, and generally follow the "place + product" naming format. The brands must stand out in market competitiveness, product innovation, and brand influence.
Hunan will roll out a series of measures to cultivate its consumer brands, for instance, encouraging the shortlisted brands to apply for national recognition and industrial cluster status; launching a "Hunan's Famous Consumer Brands" column on the official website and WeChat of the Industry and Information Technology Department of Hunan Province for a series of promotion events; hosting brand-building training to enhance enterprise expertise; facilitating enterprises' participation in national expositions like the China Consumer Brands Conference; and, establishing production-marketing matchmaking platforms.
