On August 17, 25 renowned street dancers from home and abroad visited the Baofeng Lake Scenic Area in Zhangjiajie. The dancers from various countries and regions gathered on the platform next to Yuanyang Island, with the peak forest as their backdrop and the lake as their stage. They danced and improvised freely and took photos, using their dynamic, trendy moves to showcase this famous city of beautiful landscapes in the coolest way.
That day, the dancers took a boat ride on Baofeng Lake. The lake is flanked by quartz sandstone peaks which are reflected on the mirror-like water, making the journey feel like gliding through a painting. After arriving at the lake platform beside the Yuanyang Island, the dancers were full of enthusiasm, moving freely on the platform and dancing to the rhythm of the music. Breaking, Popping, Hip-Hop... different styles of street dance were performed in turn. The powerful beats contrasted sharply with the tranquil landscape, attracting passing tourists to cheer and applaud.
"I'm waiting for you on the waters of Zhangjiajie," "If you love me, let's start here," "A breeze of longing has found its way to Baofeng Lake" - these popular signposts in the scenic area have also become backdrops for the dancers. Using the majestic peaks and beautiful waters as their canvas, the dancers interpreted the collision of trends and nature through body language, with every moment serving as a vivid footnote to Zhangjiajie's landscapes.
The street dancers' visit to Baofeng Lake is a major part of the 2026 Zhangjiajie International Street Dance Festival. The event uses street dance, a global youth pop culture, as a medium to build a cross-border cultural exchange platform. It brings together street dancers from home and abroad to explore and draw inspiration from Zhangjiajie's core scenic areas. Through the dancers' firsthand experiences and social media sharing, it showcases the unique charm of Zhangjiajie's landscapes to the world. The initiative aims to further expand the inbound tourism market and enhance the scenic area's brand influence among international young people.
The dancers participating in the festival come from multiple countries and regions and are all influential street dance professionals. Their trip to Baofeng Lake was not only a cross-disciplinary presentation of pop culture, but also an international cultural exchange through dance. The dancers mentioned that the peak forest and waters of Baofeng Lake are stunning, and they hoped that more overseas friends will learn about and fall in love with Zhangjiajie through their dance steps and footage, spreading the beauty of its landscapes to the world.
