Changsha Customs Authority recently announced that in the first seven months, Hunan exported 960 million yuan of rail transit equipment, up 24.4% year on year. In July, Hunan's exports of rail transit equipment hit a record high, exceeding 200 million yuan in a single month for the first time, an increase of 117.5%.

During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, "Hunan-made" rail transit trains began operation in Mexico, handling an average of over 1.25 million passenger trips per day and becoming a new calling card for going global. Hunan's rail transit equipment exports are mainly clustered in Zhuzhou, Changsha, and Xiangtan. In the first seven months, Zhuzhou's exports totaled 910 million yuan, up 30.2%, accounting for 95.3% of the province's total rail transit equipment exports.

Hunan's state-owned enterprises exported 800 million yuan of rail transit equipment in the first seven months, up 58.7%, accounting for 82.9%. Among them, CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. and Zhuzhou Times New Material Technology Co., Ltd. contributed 76.2% to the province's total exports during the period. Private enterprises exported 130 million yuan, and foreign-invested enterprises exported 32.67 million yuan.

Orders from emerging markets are pouring in. CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. recently signed a light rail contract worth 2.84 billion lira in Bursa, Turkey, and CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. won the bid worth 490 million reais to supply 10 new trains for the Salvador Metro in Brazil. In the first seven months, the province exported 600 million yuan worth of rail transit equipment to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, up 104.3%, accounting for more than 60%. Uzbekistan, Germany, and the Republic of Korea were the top three single export markets, growing 136.6 times, 19.1%, and 2.7 times, respectively. During the January-July period, exports to the EU reached 260 million yuan, up 20.6%.

"Hunan's core rail transit technologies are rapidly expanding to new energy equipment, and a coordinated multi-industry pattern has taken shape," said the Changsha Customs Authority. It noted that CRRC's subsidiaries in Hunan can facilitate the sharing of overseas market channels between the rail transit sector and such industries as wind power and energy storage, thereby reducing the costs associated with individual industries expanding into international markets.
