Hengshan Green Tea, submitted by the Xinqiao Tea Cooperative in Hengshan County, recently won third place in the Tea Competition at the 2026 Hong Kong International Tea Fair.

The Hong Kong International Tea Fair, hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), is a highly influential event for the international tea industry in the Asia-Pacific region. The Tea Competition, as a part of the fair, brings together numerous high-quality tea samples from home and abroad for rigorous evaluation by senior experts, enjoying broad industry recognition.

The Xinqiao Tea Cooperative of Hengshan County, founded in 1976, is located in a valley in Hengshan Mountain. The unique high-mountain misty climate and fertile soil nurture Hengshan green tea, giving it a distinctive flavor. With a long and rich history, the area is recorded in The Classic of Tea—the world's first treatise on tea by Lu Yu in the Tang Dynasty (618–907 CE). The tea-growing and tea-making techniques have been handed down for thousands of years.

A spokesperson of the cooperative stated that they will continue to advance standardized tea production, further explore the time-honored tea culture that Hengshan has cultivated for over a thousand years, and help local tea businesses better integrate into both domestic and international markets. These efforts will help enable more tea lovers around the world to appreciate the exceptional teas produced in Hengshan Mountain.
