The Global Unicorn Index 2026 by Hurun Research Institute was unveiled on June 25. Two Hunan enterprises made the list. Sany Heavy-duty Truck ranked 611th with a valuation of 13.5 billion CNY, and CNGR Advanced Material Co., Ltd. ranked 875th with a valuation of 10 billion CNY.
Sany Heavy-duty Truck, founded in 2019, is a subsidiary of the SANY Group, focusing on the research, development, and manufacturing of new energy heavy trucks. The company has launched multiple flagship products, including lithium battery electric heavy trucks and hydrogen fuel cell heavy trucks, covering full scenarios such as long-haul logistics, ports, and mining. With a market presence that firmly leads the industry, the company has secured its position as the top brand in the new energy heavy truck sector. Meanwhile, Sany Heavy-duty Truck has taken the lead in entering overseas markets such as the UAE, Indonesia, and Singapore, with its global footprint taking shape.
CNGR Advanced Materials, located in Ningxiang, Changsha, is a global leader in the new energy materials industry. Its core products ternary precursors and cobalt tetroxide have ranked first globally in shipment volume for many years. It is the first advanced energy storage material enterprise in Hunan to exceed an output value of 10 billion CNY. In 2025, CNGR Advanced Materials achieved an operating revenue of 48.14 billion CNY and was listed in Hong Kong in November that year. Yet, it was still classified as a unicorn enterprise by the Hurun index.
The two Hunan enterprises that made last year's list—CiDi and Busy Ming—were listed in Hong Kong on December 19, 2025, and January 28, 2026, respectively. Therefore, they are not included in this year's rankings.
The Hurun list counted non-listed companies globally that were founded after 2000 and have a valuation exceeding one billion USD, as of the cut-off date on January 1, 2026. This year, a total of 1,603 companies made the list, with a total valuation of 54 trillion CNY, setting new records in both total number and total valuation. China ranked second globally with 381 enterprises on the list, 38 more than last year.
