According to the Changsha Customs Authority, in the first four months of this year, Hunan's imports and exports totaled 194.38 billion CNY, a year-on-year increase of 16.2%. Exports reached 108.84 billion CNY, up 6%, while imports amounted to 85.54 billion CNY, up 32.4%. In April alone, Hunan's imports and exports totaled 50.1 billion CNY, marking an increase of 14.8%.

Recently, four tonnes of live bighead carp from the East Dongting Lake in Yueyang were shipped to Hong Kong, marking the first export of live fish from the Yueyang section of Dongting Lake. According to the exporter, Hunan Junshan Ecological Fishery Group Co., Ltd., following this initial shipment of live fish to Hong Kong, the company will continue to expand exports.

In the first four months, Hunan's imports and exports with traditional markets such as the United States, the European Union, Japan, and Hong Kong SAR, totaled 56.86 billion CNY, an increase of 21.4%, contributing six percentage points to the province's overall growth. During the same period, trade with ASEAN and Latin America grew by 23% and 33.7%, respectively. Imports and exports with Africa reached 18.16 billion CNY, up 8.8%.

Exports of high-tech products saw substantial growth. In the first four months, Hunan exported 7.09 billion CNY of "new three" products—electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaics, growing by 43.8%. Exports of high-tech products reached 15.2 billion CNY, an increase of 43.7%. Imports of mechanical and electrical products totaled 22.48 billion CNY, up 38.7%, accounting for 26.3% of Hunan's total imports during the same period.

In the first four months, Changsha, Chenzhou, Yueyang, Xiangtan, Hengyang, Zhuzhou, Changde, Loudi, Yiyang, and Xiangxi achieved double-digit growth in imports and exports. Among them, Changsha's imports and exports reached 101.19 billion CNY, accounting for 52.1% of the province's total imports and exports during the same period.
