According to statistics from the Xiangxi Customs Authority, in the first quarter of this year, the total import and export value of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture reached 560 million CNY, marking a year-on-year increase of 113.5%. This growth rate ranked first around the province.
Exports of Xiangxi's competitive industrial products such as lithium batteries and electrolytic manganese performed prominently, with lithium battery exports reaching 230 million CNY, rising 143.6% from the previous year. Benefiting from the energy sector structural adjustment and the sustained release of household energy storage demand in Europe, lithium battery exports to the Netherlands and Germany increased by 475.5% and 405.6%, respectively. Meanwhile, exports of such products as electrolytic manganese and manganese nitride amounted to 210 million CNY, a year-on-year growth of 138.2%. Agricultural product exports from the prefecture grew by 81.9% year on year, among which sturgeon caviar exports soared 677.4% while tea and fresh orange exports surged 51.8% and 17.5% respectively. The international market share of Xiangxi's specialty agricultural products has steadily expanded.
In the first quarter, Xiangxi maintained economic and trade exchanges with 60 countries and regions worldwide, with trade volume with Africa reaching 9.517 million CNY, increasing by 40.8%. Meanwhile, its trade volume with the European Union reached 260 million CNY, a rise of 278.3%, highlighting the continued consolidation of its diversified market structure.
The Xiangxi Customs Authority will continue to optimize the port business environment, implement various trade facilitation measures, and support export expansion in competitive industries such as new energy, manganese-based new materials, and specialty agricultural products, said Xia Xiongwei, director of the authority. He added that these aim to stabilize the scale, optimize the structure, and improve the quality of the prefecture's foreign trade.
