In the first three quarters of this year, Hunan exported 650,000 electric vehicles (EVs) valued at 8.62 billion CNY in total, marking year-on-year increases of 84.4% and 85.9% respectively. In September, Hunan's EV exports reached 590 million CNY, soaring 218.4% over last year, marking the ninth consecutive month of growth.
During the first three quarters, Hunan's EV exports to Indonesia surged 636.3% to 3.21 billion CNY, and that to Mexico up 100.4% to 1.7 billion CNY. The exports to these two markets accounted for 57% of the provincial total. During the same period, the EV exports to the Philippines, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates increased 24.6-fold, 17.7-fold, and 125.7% respectively.
"Over half of Hunan's exported EVs were shipped to Indonesia and Mexico, while ASEAN has become a significant incremental market based on the zero-tariff treatment under RCEP, " said an official from the Changsha Customs Authority. Statistics showed that, both the volume and value of Hunan's exported EV saw substantial growth, with the growth rate of export value slightly higher than that of export volume.
In recent years, several Hunan-based automakers have actively expanded their business in the overseas markets, catering to local conditions and further enhancing their market share and brand influence. In the first three quarters, Changsha exported EVs worth 8.06 billion CNY, rising 104.7% and accounting for 93.6% of the province's total. During the same period, Shaoyang's EV exports reached 250 million CNY, surging by 19.1 times, while Hengyang up 37.8% to 110 million CNY.
