Zhangjiajie West Railway Station and Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport have been presenting cultural performances and volunteer services since mid-June. The campaign has delighted and moved tourists with unique intangible cultural heritage folk customs displays and dedicated volunteer efforts.
"It's just amazing! The actors' and actresses' voices flowed like a spring, rising and falling. The silver ornaments on their costumes sparkled like stars. This experience ignited my desire to explore this place far more than any travel brochure ever could," an Irish tourist remarked after watching the Zhangjiajie Yang Opera.
The cultural performance and volunteer service campaign is jointly hosted by the Zhangjiajie Municipal Social Work Department, the Zhangjiajie Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, Television and Sports, and the Zhangjiajie Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League. The event will run from June 15 to October 10, featuring diverse forms of intangible cultural heritage and folk performances such as Zhangjiajie Yang Opera, Sangzhi Folk Songs, Tujia Baishou or Hand-waving Dance, Drum Dance, and Lantern Dance.
Performance stages are set up at the exit square of Zhangjiajie West Railway Station and in the arrival hall area of Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport. Performing art teams will precisely schedule shows based on real-time passenger flow at these transportation hubs. Performances will run daily from 14:00 to 22:00 at the railway station and from 15:00 to 22:30 at the airport. This initiative ensures that travelers receive a warm welcome the moment they arrive.
To date, there have been a cumulative total of 110 performances staged, attracting over one million audience members. Many travelers indicated that these performances not only left them with a profound impression of Zhangjiajie but also served as the warmest prelude to their travel memories.
Beyond the spectacular performances on stage, the volunteers' thoughtful service allows visitors to truly feel the warmth of the city.
At Zhangjiajie West Railway Station, youth volunteers in blue vests assist tourists with inquiries and provide directions at the exit, creating a vibrant display within the scenic area.
According to statistics, service stations at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport and Zhangjiajie West Railway Station received an average of over 6,000 visits daily during the summer vacation. The volunteers have offered such services as luggage handling, transportation guidance, and scenic spot recommendations. Since this June, a total of 538 youth volunteers have served visitors from all corners of the world with warm smiles and dedicated services.
