Hunan's total import and export of rail transit equipment reached 820 million CNY from January to July, increased by 90.9% over the same period last year. State-owned enterprises accounted for more than 80% of the province's total foreign trade value of rail transit equipment, the Changsha Customs said on August 31, 2023.
Zhuzhou is the absolute mainstay of imports and exports of rail transit equipment. Its import and export volume grew by 92.9% year on year to 780 million CNY in the first seven months, accounting for 94.5% of the provincial total. Changde and Yongzhou achieved rapid growth in import and export of rail transit equipment, up 1300% and 410% respectively.
Hunan's rail transit equipment was mainly imported from the European Union (EU), including Germany and the Czech Republic. In January-July period, Hunan imported 310 million CNY of rail transit equipment from the EU, an increase of 215.3% and accounting for 97.4% of the provincial total import value. The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) members were major exporters of Hunan's rail transit equipment. In the first seven months, Hunan exported 270 million CNY of rail transit equipment to them, which doubled the volume year on year. Malaysia and Mexico were big importers.
