The People’s Government of Hunan Province held talks with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the Ministry of Water Resources (MWR), the China International Trust Investment Corporation (CITIC) Group, and the China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO) in Beijing on June 7, 2021. They had in-depth exchanges on implementing the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s important speech made when inspecting Hunan and building a modern new Hunan. Mao Weiming, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary and Hunan governor; Wang Zhigang, MOST minister; Li Guoying, MWR minister; Zhu Hexin, CITIC chairman; and, Lv Jun, COFCO chairman, attended.

Xu Nanping, MOST vice minister; Wei Shanzhong, MWR vice minister; Xi Guohua, CITIC general manager; Luan Richeng, COFCO president; Sui Zhongcheng and Chen Fei, Hunan vice governors; and, Wang Qun, secretary general, joined the meeting.

Governor Mao, on behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province, thanked MOST, MWR, CITIC, and COFCO for their long-term support. He said that, the whole province is now implementing the “Three Highlands and Four New Missions” Strategy in accordance with the blueprint drawn by President Xi Jinping for Hunan Province. Its economic and social development is showing a good momentum of coordination in speed, quality, structure and efficiency. He noted that Hunan Province is now standing at a new historical starting point and facing a golden opportunity for development. He expected the ministries and central enterprises to continue to care about Hunan Province and give more guidance and support on major breakthroughs in core technologies in key fields and innovation platform construction, food and seed industry safety, agricultural product processing and circulation, and water resources, water environment, and water safety guarantee, so as to assist Hunan Province in taking the lead in high-quality development in central China.

The responsible comrades of ministries and commissions and central enterprises congratulated Hunan Province on achievements made in economic and social development in recent years. They promised to give full play to their respective functions and advantages, increase project policy support and investment, and actively participate in the implementation of Hunan’s “Three Highlands and Four New Missions” Strategy.
