A batch of Cambodian durians weighing 1,100 kilograms arrived at the Changsha Airport Port on the evening of September 21, 2025. This marks the first import of Cambodian durians through a Hunan port.

This batch of durians has cleared customs and will soon be available at major supermarkets and fruit stores across Hunan Province, the importer noted, adding that the imported Ov Khak durians feature uniform shape, smooth texture, and moderate sweetness. Naturally ripened and fallen from the trees, the fruits offer a rich flavor and intense aroma.

On April 28, the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China issued an announcement permitting the import of Cambodian durians that meet quarantine requirements. The Changsha Customs Authority at the Huanghua Airport proactively communicated with enterprises to learn about their import plans and volumes. The authority has guided the enterprises to go through procedures such as obtaining animal and plant quarantine permits, and implemented round-the-clock appointment-based clearance to ensure goods are inspected without delay as they arrive. In the first eight months of this year, Changsha Airport imported 1,851 tonnes of perishable goods worth 120 million CNY.

China is the world's largest importer and consumer of durians. Data shows that in 2024, China imported approximately 1.56 million tonnes of durians, with a total value of 6.99 billion USD. Southeast Asia is the primary production region for durians. Currently, fresh durians from five Southeast Asian countries are approved for export to China.
