Hunan's Foreign Trade Surpasses 300 Billion CNY in First Seven Months

Hunan's total import and export value reached 307.87 billion CNY in the first seven months of this year, including 187.73 billion CNY in exports and 120.14 billion CNY in imports. In July alone, the province's total foreign trade value grew 0.9% over the same period last year to 45.38 billion CNY, said the Changsha Customs Authority on August 8, 2025.

During the January-July period, Hunan's imports and exports to ASEAN, Africa, and the Middle East amounted to 59.52 billion CNY, 33.89 billion CNY, and 20.42 billion CNY, respectively, representing growth rates of 17.9%, 11.3%, and 9.7%. Among them, Hunan's trade with Africa topped the central and western parts of China. The provicial imports and exports to the EU totaled 26.95 billion CNY, with an 8.2% increase in July, marking two consecutive months of growth.

Regionally, Changsha City's total import and export value grew 1.5% to 162.73 billion CNY, ranking 13th among the 31 provincial capitals (including municipalities) nationwide and accounting for 52.9% of the provincial total. During the same period, Xiangxi, Yiyang, Huaihua, and Changde saw import and export growth of 62%, 19%, 7.8%, and 5%, respectively.

Market entities have become increasingly active. In the first seven months, there were 7,258 enterprises with import and export performance, 311 more than the figure recorded for the first half of the year and 592 more than the figure recorded in the same period last year.

Exports of electric vehicles kept rising. In the first seven months of this year, Hunan's cumulative exports of electric vehicles reached 7.3 billion CNY, demonstrating that the province's foreign trade has been increasingly innovative and environmentally friendly. In July alone, Hunan exported 1.81 billion CNY of electric vehicles, surging 337.2% and marking the fourth consecutive month of record-breaking monthly export volumes.
