Shimen Tangerines Enter Harvest Season, Racing to Overseas Markets

Recently, early-ripening tangerines in Shimen County, Changde City, have been harvested in abundance and are hitting the market in succession. Fruit farmers are seizing the season to pick tangerines, while local tangerine export enterprises are making the most of the golden period for production and marketing to ramp up fresh tangerine procurement and accelerate processing and production, so that Shimen tangerines can reach overseas markets.

Shimen has a long history of tangerine cultivation and is renowned both at home and abroad for its pleasingly sweet-and-sour flavor and early-ripening, high-quality characteristics. In recent years, Shimen County has continued to develop its specialty tangerine industry, building a full industrial chain development pattern covering planting, processing, marketing, and export. At present, Shimen has 15 registered export enterprises, 19 filed export bases, and 11 processing plants. Tangerine products are exported to 20 countries and regions, including Canada, Russia, and Southeast Asia, with annual export volume stable at 50,000 to 100,000 tonnes. In 2025, Shimen's self-operated tangerine export value reached 13 million USD.
