The 2008 Lotus Cup International Industrial Design Prize officially began on September 27th. The "Lotus Cup" is sponsored by the People's Government of Hunan Province, promoted by Hunan Science and Technology Department, Hunan Radio and TV, and undertaken by Hunan University, Industrial Design Association of Hunan Province, co-organized by the Committee of Industrial Design Education.  

The International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), the International Design Art Institutions Union (Cumulus) as international certification institutions and China Industrial Design Association as a national certification institution, employed well-known domestic and foreign experts as judges. "Innovation, harmony and values," is the theme of this competition.
