2017 Hunan AI Forum Opens

The 2017 Hunan Artificial Intelligence (AI) Forum opened in Changsha on June 27. AI giants from home and abroad attended.


The Forum was sponsored by the Changsha Municipal People’s Government, the Hunan Economic and Information Technology Commission, the Hunan Association for Science and Technology, the Hunan Science and Technology Department, and the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, and organized by the Changsha Yuhua Economic Development Zone and the Hunan Zixing AI Research Institute.

Provincial leaders, prestigious scientists and experts were present at the opening ceremony, including Chen Junwen, Zhang Jianfei, Zhang Dafang, Liu Xiao, Cai Zixing, Yao Shouzhuo, Lu Guangxiu, Long Guojian, and National University of Defense Technology former President Wen Xisen.

Managers of more than 300 well-known industrial capital businesses attended, such as Microsoft, Baidu, Alibaba, and Tencent.

The Hunan AI Robot Zone in Changsha undertakes the city’s main tasks of implementing the “Made in China 2025” Initiative. As of now, there have been 150 AI robot companies. A complete industrial chain, involving research and development; and, manufacturing, has been developed.

The Forum lasted for two days. Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) academician Guo Aike, Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) academician He Jishan, and dozens of Chinese, US, and UK experts gave lectures. They also discussed about AI future advancement; Hunan’s opportunity in AI development; and, Hunan’s robot technology development.
