The Hunan Firefighting and Rescue Force and the Hunan Xiangwei General Aviation Company reached a strategic cooperation agreement on May 29. The Hunan Firefighting and Rescue Corps Air Firefighting and Rescue Detachment, the first of its kind in Hunan, was officially established the same day.
The newly established air firefighting and rescue detachment has four units, respectively responsible for rescue, flight, air traffic control, and ground service. It has 6 ambulance helicopters, and special facilities for personal protection, emergency communication, aircraft firefighting, image transmission, and transfer of the wounded. These facilities will facilitate firefighting, rappelling, water rescue, mountain rescue, air patrol, transfer of the wounded, and on-site picture transmission, in a prompt and efficient way. The rescue time can be shortened within 15 minutes in the urban areas, and one hour in all areas of Changsha, Zhuzhou, and Xiangtan City Cluster.
