Nanyue Airport Opens New Flights to 9 Cities

The newly-opened flights promotion conference of Hengyang Nanyue Airport in the 2019 summer-autumn travel season was held on March 27, 2019. There were new routes added to 9 cities of Lijiang, Ningbo, Xiamen, Erdos, Lanzhou, Urumqi, Zhengzhou, Nanning, and Mangshi.
 
The Nanyue Airport opened in December 2014. It now has 16 routes and 29 direct flights, forming a flight network in the pattern of Chinese character “米”. Its passenger throughput reached 816,000 in 2018, ranking third in the province and 105th in the country. It achieved a cargo and mail throughput of 760 tons. The Nanyue Airport will realize interchange flight with 30 cities on April 1 this year. The passenger throughput will exceed 1 million by the end of this year.
 
Zheng Jianxin, CPC Hengyang Municipal Committee secretary, said that Nanyue Airport has become an important window and a business calling card to showcase Hengyang's economic and social achievements. Hengyang will further develop air cargo logistics; accelerate the settlement of E-commerce and logistics enterprises such as JD.com and SF Express; promote airport industry development, such as airport and airline food, aircraft maintenance, aviation manufacturing, and aviation service; and, independently open up more routes. Nanyue Airport is expected to get direct access to 50 cities by the end of 2020, and Hengyang will be an air transport sub-center, he added.
