Hunan Tourism Booming During Spring Festival Holiday

On February 20, 28,000 trips were made by tourists in Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area, a year on year increase of 21.74%; 18,000 and 16,000 in Tanhe Ancient Town and Liu Shaoqi Memorial Hall, the Changsha Tourism Bureau said.

Changsha’s tourism market was in good order; tourist satisfaction has improved generally; and no tourist complaints and tourism accidents occurred.

Colorful Spring Festival celebrations in Changsha’s scenic spots entertained citizens, including temple fair in Tanhe Ancient Town, Xunlonghe Lantern Show in Changsha County. Beyond that, this year urban leisure tourism and cultural tourism were thriving. On February 20, Hunan Museum, Changsha Museum, Changsha Library, Changsha Concert Hall, and Changsha Planning Exhibition Hall were packed with visitors. 19,000 trips were made in Dawei Mountain National Forest Park, an increase of 11.76% over the same period last year.

A total of 9,222,500 trips were made in 123 scenic spots, which were included into the provincial monitoring system six days before the Spring Festival holiday, up 10.44% over last year's holiday, bringing a revenue of 696 million CNY, an increase of 16.39%. A total of 1,742,500 trips were made in Hunan on February 20 alone. And more than 100,000 trips were made each in Wulingyuan, Fenghuang Ancient Town, Hengshan Mountain, and other scenic spots that day. In addition, the opening of more highways has facilitated Chinese tourists’ driving tours. An increasing number of tourists from Guangdong and Guangxi visited Hunan.
