Jingzhou Miao and Dong Autonomous County in Hunan's Huaihua City grasps the opportunity of building "four good roads" in rural areas to increase investment in transportation infrastructure. It has integrated rural road construction with regional development, rural revitalization, mountain tourism, industrial layout, and services related to people's livelihood, and coordinated the work to construct beautiful countryside and invigorate the county through industrial development. A number of rural roads for industrial development, ecological tourism, and people's livelihood improvement have been built, which give an impetus to local economic and social development.

In Sanhe Village, Quyang Tong in the county, rural roads have greatly facilitated local transportation. Various traditional Chinese medicine materials were planted along the roads, such as poria cocos, polygonatum sibiricum, polygonatum odoratum, bletilla striata, and eucommiae cortex. Waxberry planting is also developed locally. In recent years, the local transport authority has raised funds to build a 15.9-km road which helps lower the costs of waxberry planting, management, picking, and transportation. (Photo/Lin Luofu, Tian Wenguo)
