Secretary Du chairs a meeting to discuss and deploy measures to curb imports of infections.
On March 4, Du Jiahao, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, inspected the Changsha Huanghua International Airport. He greeted the staff at the front line of epidemic prevention and control, and chaired a meeting to deploy related work, especially that to curb COVID-19 cases being imported from overseas. He marked that, the epidemic prevention and control has entered a new phase as the epidemic continues to worsen internationally. We have to insist on current measures, and make timely improvements according to the up-to-date characteristics and changes of epidemic spread. We should firm our confidence, and take scientific and accurate prevention and control measures, to cope with imports of infections and win the battle against the epidemic.

During his inspection at the airport, Du talked with the customs and border inspection officials at the entry lane, and observed entry processes, health quarantine, and temperature screening conditions. He greeted and extended gratitude to the customs, border inspection, airport, and public security officials working at the front line of epidemic prevention and control. He encouraged them to make persistent efforts to prepare for new challenges as the epidemic is spreading around the world.
He listened to the reports of the persons in charge of related departments. He stressed taking all-out efforts to prevent influx of the COVID-19 patients from outside China, and domestic spread, coordinate epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development. We have to make foresight and early planning, and take speedy actions, to improve our epidemic prevention measures based on changes of epidemic spread. Though there’s no imported case of infection from overseas, we should taking nothing for granted. We should keep on alert and take active actions in line with the united deployment and requirement of the central government, persist on our successful measures and coordinated prevention and control mechanism, so as to prepare for possible emergencies and prevent imports of infections from abroad.
Du required to strengthen study on global epidemic spread, and make pre-arranged planning. Related departments of airports, ports, railway stations, customs, border inspection, public security, and telecommunications should take concerted efforts. Information about all recent inbound personnel should be shared. Temperature taking, migrant registration should cover all inbound personnel at every community, village, and factories. Measures should be differentiated to different regions, people, and situations. The officials should publicize and explain related polices to the inbound travelers, respect and care for them, so as to win their understanding and support to quarantines and treatments. Local authorities should shoulder responsibilities, coordinate epidemic prevention and orderly resumption of work and production, and expanded opening up. So that the goals of defeating the virus and guaranteeing economic and social development will be achieved.
