Changsha, April 8 (Hunan Daily)-- The 'International Co-operation Forum on Resources and Environment, 2009' is just around the corner. On the morning, the fourth session of coordinating meeting is held, and the preparatory work for the forum is now in its final spurt. Liu Liwei and He Baoxiang attended the meeting. Till now, 265 guests have been confirmed to attend this forum, while 118 projects will be publicized and the contracts for 18 projects will be signed on site.
It is known from this meeting that among the confirmed 265 guests, 83 are top officials of China, high-level representatives from international organizations including the UN, representatives of foreign ambassadors in China, excellent experts in economy and environmental protection, senor mangers and leaders from the world top 500 enterprises and China's state enterprises directly under the central authorities, as well as China's renowned private entrepreneurs. Over 20 guests will deliver speeches in the plenary session or the sub-sessions.
In order to enhance the practical effects of the forum and its appeal to the renowned enterprises home and abroad, 118 projects will be introduced and publicized, among which 18 projects, with a total investment of 31.327 billion RMB, and a total capital introduced amounting to 30.381 billion RMB, will be signed on the forum.
At the opening ceremony, nine representatives from government, enterprises and the general public will co-launch 'the sundial of the world' and unveil the stele of Environmental Protection. 'The sundial of the world' is evolved from the Chinese traditional sundial, consisting of three rings, symbolizing respectively government, enterprises and the general public, who will make concerted efforts to propel the rapid development of environmental protection cause. Moreover, the sundial also indicates that 'time and tide wait for no man' in the environmental protection cause. Nowadays, the construction of infrastructure and supporting facilities is going on smoothly, and the stele of Environmental Protection. Xiangjiang River Declaration and 'the sundial of the world' will be carried to the Orange Islet on April 15 and April 16 respectively.
At the closing ceremony, the Global Compact will admit another five Hunan enterprises into it, including enterprises from Changsha, Zhuzhou, Xiangtan and Yiyang and a drug chain store in Hunan.
