The Project aims to transfer and distribute parcels and bulk cargo of western Changsha, the whole Wangcheng County and its surrounding area from the west of Xiangjiang River. It has functions of load & unload, storage and through transport etc. The Project intends to carry out construction in two phases and design 6 berths with thousand tonnages, coast line of 600 meters long and annual throughput capacity of 4 million tons. The 1st phase covers an area 10 hectare and has investment of USD21.43 million. It is planned to be put into operation in 2009; the 2nd phase covers an area of 10 hectare and has investment of USD21.43 million. The Project will be put into operation in 2010. Completion of this port can not only improve the present situation of Xiangjiang River Navigation and Hydropower Project that there is no large deepwater wharf at its downstream but also support Wangcheng Freight Railway Station to expand scale and increase cargo in coordination with each other in east and west, so as to form fully throughput. The Port and Xianing port compose functional water carriage and logistics comprehensive system of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan regions.
