Jinggang is located in the northwest of Wangcheng County, near the west bank of Xiangjiang River, opposite to Tongguan Town in the east. It is 24 km away from downtown of Changsha, covers a core area of 37.63 hectare and has a population of 4 thousand. It used to be a natural harbor swarming with merchants. Till the middle age of the Republic of China, Jinggang, Jingshi and Hongjiang became the three most prosperous towns of Hunan with the reputation of “small Hankou and Hong Kong”. Because of its well protected ancient relics and profound historical deposit, it has become a famous town featured in patriotism education base, tourism, leisure, amusement and vacation.
Changsha Jinggang Town Tourist & Holiday Resort Development Project intends to restore the small town’s features of history, culture and scenes: restoring Mashi Long Street, reconstructing Ziyun Palace, Bayintang (Ningxiang Assembly Hall), Hongtai Lane, Wanshougong (Jiangxi Assembly Hall), enlarging Yangsi Temple, restoring and constructing Suspending Building, Lujiang Theater, tea houses and taverns of Banbian Street along the river; gradually creating characteristic restaurants and folk-custom shopping; repacking characteristic handicrafts, such as Xiantai dried bean curd, Jianglou fabric shoes, wooden clogs, paper umbrellas and wooden barrels etc.; creating a “Aquatic Products Street” depending on aquatic products of Xiangjiang River; encouraging people to set up shops gathering new industries, such as leisure, health care; establishing film and TV industry base according to the old battler field where Zeng Guofan drowned himself in the river, Eighth Route crossing Xiangjiang River at night and scenes of the Republic of China.
It is estimated that after finishing construction, its annual profit of amounts to USD1.14-1.71 million.
