Hunan airport industry leadership group was set up in September of 2008 Vice Governor Chen Zhaoxiong as the head, bearing the responsibilities of formulating the supporting measures and policies for the development of airport industrial area, coordinating and dealing with the difficulties and problems encountered in the planning and construction of the airport industry so as to propel its fast development. Hunan Airport Economy Research Center was also launched with the joint efforts of Hunan Airport Management Group Co.,Ltd. and Hunan Academy of Social Sciences in December of 2008 to provide theoretical supports to the planning and construction of the airport industrial area.
Recently, the first working meeting of Hunan airport industry leadership group was held, marking the full operation of the airport industrial area in the province.
Chief of Hunan Airport Management Group Co.,Ltd. introduced that airport economy is the industrial cluster based on the large airports especially the large international hub airports to serve the airport transport directly and is the regional economy phenomenon in the neighborhood of airports.
Huanghua International Airport serves as the biggest aviation center of Hunan Province and is an airport with the largest business volume in Central China. In addition, the completion of Wuhan-Guangdong express railway will make the airport –express railway region the hub of the comprehensive transport. Therefore, to accelerate the construction of economic area on the basis of Huanghua International Airport is of great significance to promoting the fast development of Chang-Zhu-Tan city cluster and Hunan’s economy and society.
It was revealed form the meeting that future airport economy in Hunan will consist of five function areas: the economic demonstrative economic area of Central South transport gateway, Central South modern productivity service center, Hunan trade and commercial center, Hunan high end airport products manufacturing base and regional grand entertainment center.
