Hunan Grid Furnished with World's Most Advanced Ice-resistant Equipment

The world's first set of the most voluminous compact direct current (DC) ice-resistant equipment, developed and manufactured in China, successfully went through the test on the 5 million KV Fu-Sha Electric Route I (Yiyang-Changsha) with the lead 86 km long and was successfully applied at the beginning of 2009, which marks China has made a great breakthrough in combating and reducing calamities via scientific means. The equipment will provide more vigorous technological support for enhancing the power system's capability to fight natural disasters and ensuring the grid's safe and stable operation.

According to relevant staff of the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), all equipment including the route, hardware fittings, joints and DC ice-melting devices performed well in the trial, and all trial figures met the requirements of the design.

This set of equipment is the world's first of its kind to be successfully applied to actual projects and sets up the world record with the largest volume and rated current and the longest ice-melting distance(180 km).
