Six Travel Routes Recommended to Explore Beautiful Hunan

Six cultural tourism travel routes were announced at the opening ceremony of the 2019 Hunan International Cultural Tourism Festival in Yizhang County, Chenzhou on September 22. 
 
The routes will be good options for tourists to explore Hunan during the upcoming week-long National Day holiday.

A Tour to Great Men's Hometowns 
 
Main scenic spots include:
Mao Zedong’s Residence and Memorial Hall in Shaoshan;
Liu Shaoqi’s Residence and Metrorail Hall, and Huitang Hot Spring in Ningxiang;
Peng Dehuai’s Residence in Xiangtan;
Chen Geng’s Residence and Dongshan School in Xiangxiang; and,
Yuelu Mountain and Orange Isle in Changsha.

A Tour to Charming Western Hunan or Xiangxi 
 
Main scenic posts include:
Taohuayuan Scenic Spot in Changde;
Wulingyuan Scenic Spot and Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie;
Laosicheng Site, Aizhai Bridge, Furong Town, and Fenghuang (Phoenix) Ancient Town in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture; 
Hongjiang Ancient Commercial Town, Yutou Dong Village, and Su Yu’s Residence in Huaihua; and,
Nanshan National Park, Yunshan Mountain, and Langshan Mountain in Shaoyang.

A Tour to the Dongting Lake 
 
Main scenic spots include:
Ancient Towns along the Xiangjiang in Wangcheng District, Changsha;
Yangsha Lake, Qu Yuan Cultural Park, Ren Bishi’s Residence, Dongting Lake, Yueyang Tower, Junshan Island in Yueyang;
Liuye Lake and Qingshui Lake in Changde; and, 
Huangjia Lake in Yiyang.

A Revolutionary-related Tour to the Border Area of Hunan and Jiangxi Provinces 
 
It is a new travel route featuring driving tours, rural trips, and revolutionary tours. It covers the areas of Yueyang’s Pingjiang; Changsha’s Liuyang; Zhuzhou’s Liling, Youxian and Chaling; and, Chenzhou’s Yanling, Anren, Guidong, and Rucheng.

A Tour to Southern Hunan 
 
It is a trip to worship Chinese ancestors and experience Hunan’s profound culture and long history and beautiful scenery. 
 
Main scenic spots include:
Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue District, Hengyang;
Luo Ronghuan Memorial Hall in Hengdong; 
Wuxi Stele Forest (a collection of stone steles), Yangming Mountain, Emperor Shun’s Mausoleum, and Jiuyi Mountain in Yongzhou; 
Dongjiang Lake, Mangshan Mountain, Wanhuayan Karst Cave, and Banliang Ancient Village in Chenzhou.

A Tour to Central Hunan 
 
It enables tourists to explore unique culture and landscape in central Hunan. 
Main scenic spots include:
Zeng Guofan’s Residence in Loudi’s Shuangfeng County;
Meijiang River in Loudi’s Lianyuan;
Ziqujie Terrace Fields in Loudi’s Lengshuijiang;
Meishan Longgong Karst Cave in Loudi’s Xinhua County;
Chuanyan Mountain in Huaihua’s Xupu County; 
Huxing Mountain in Shaoyang’s Longhui County; and,
Ancient Tea-Horse Road (a caravan route) in Yiyang’s Anhua County.
