Enjoying Red Maple Leaves in Changsha

Recently, the weather has turned cold, and the temperature difference between day and night becomes larger. The maple leaves throughout Changsha are turning red, delivering a peculiar charm. Du Mu, a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty, wrote, “Stopped the coach to enjoy the late maple woods; frosty leaves redder than the February flowers”. You won’t miss the “redder leaves” in the following places:
1.Hunan Agricultural University
Over 100 maples trees are planted along the road near the north gate of the library of the university. These maple trees were introduced from Qingdao in 2010.

2.Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area
The Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area has long been famous for its maple leaves. It is a must-go for Changsha citizens and tourists from all over the world to enjoy the fiery maple leaves. It is also one of China's four major scenic spots to enjoy fiery-red maple leaves.

3.Hunan Martyr’s Park
Maple trees in the Martyr Park are mainly around the Martyr’s Tower and the pond near the playground. At present, maple leaves in the park began to turn red.

4.Hunan Forest Botanical Garden

The Hunan Forest Botanical Garden has many species of maple trees. They are mainly distributed along both sides of the 100-meter Fengxiang Avenue near the Sakura Lake.

5.Changsha Landscape and Ecology Garden 

Located on the bank of the Laodao River in Kaifu District, the Changsha Landscape and Ecology Garden has introduced many northern oaks in recent years. The leaves are shaped like red leaves on the Canadian flag. The bright red leaves stand in sharp contrast to the dark green plants, which is very pleasing to the eye.

6.Xiangfu Cultural Park

Entering the Xiangfu Cultural Park from the entrance of the Hunan Provincial People’s Government, you can see maple trees scattered along the road. The leaves are particularly red and beautiful.

7.Orange Isle

Best time for viewing: between the end of November and the middle of December
8.Hexi University Town Scenic Belt Along West Bank of Xiangjiang River

Maple leaves can be seen when you ride or walk along the river from the Tianmashandong Bus Stop to the Houzishi Bridge.
9.Nanjiao (South Suburb) Park

Maple trees in the Nanjiao (South Suburb) Park are mostly near the main entrance, bamboo garden, and the playground.
10.Baiguoyuan Leisure Farm 

Maple leaves in Baiguoyuan farm are mostly near the entrance of the playground and the tea farm on its right side.
11.Donghu (East Lake) Wetland Park

You can appreciate maple leaves when walking around the lake. Maple leaves can also be seen in the nearby Nanhu (South Lake) Park and Zebra Lake Park.
