Xiangtan Railway Station（湘潭火车站——xiāng tán huǒ chē zhàn）
The railway transportation in Xiangtan City is very convenient and comfortable, because Xiangtan City lies in the middle part of Hunan province, where the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway Line (connecting the north and the south and the Xiangqian Railway Line from Hunan province to Guizhou province) goes through.
Xiangtan railway station is situated in Chezhan Road, Yuhu District, and trains go directly from Xiangtan to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Guiyang, Wuchang, Changsha and other large cities in China. The Xiangtan-Guizhou Railway and the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway run through the city.
In Xiangtan City, the railway connecting Xiangshao (Xiangtan-Shaoshan) Railway Station and Xiangin (Xiangtan-Xiangyin）Railway Line and part of Xiangin Railway Line has been dredged electric line.

Shaoshan Railway Station（韶山火车站——sháo shān huǒ chē zhàn）
Shaoshan City is the hometown of Chairman Mao Zedong. It is also a renowned revolutionary memorial site in China as well as one of the major tourist destinations of the country. Situated in the middle of Hunan Province, Shaoshan is 40 kilometers from Xiangtan City and about 120 kilometers from Changsha City, capital of Hunan Province. It is a county-level city with a population of 100,000 and covers an area of 210 square kilometers.
There are two trains from Changsha to Shaoshan. Train NO.1 departures at 7:05 a.m. and arrives in Shaoshan at 9:35 a.m. Train NO.2 departures at 5:00 in the afternoon and gets there at 8:00 in the evening.
Shaoshan railway station is located in Chezhan Road, Qingxi Town in the Shaoshan urban, neighbouring the bus station. Bus leaves for Changsha two times per day. From the Shaoshan railway station, you can reach Xiangtan, Zhuzhou, Changsha, Hubei and so on.
