Changde Taohuayuan Airport(常德桃花源机场——cháng dé táo huā yuán jī chǎng)


A three-dimensional transport network composed of highways, railways, air and water transport has taken shape in the city of Changde.


Taohuayuan Airport is located in Doumuhu town,Dingcheng district,Changde municipality of Hunan Province,about 12.2 km away from the urban area. It was built in 1958 and is now a grade 4C Civil Airport which can meet the take-off and landing requirements of planes ranging from Boeing 737s, 757s, and the Air Bus 320 to the MD 82 and TU154.

First Changde-Thailand Direct Flight Completed

A passenger charter flight from Bangkok Airport, Thailand, landed at Changde Taohuayuan Airport around 20:40 on December 11, 2019. It was the first international flight of the Taohuayuan Airport. 


It was said that this international passenger charter flight was operated by an A320/321 aircraft of Thai VietJet Air. It took off from Bangkok Airport, Thailand, at 18:00 Beijing time on December 11, and flew directly to Changde. After an hour stay in Changde, the plane returned to Thailand with 165 passengers. The flight operates every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. It departs from Bangkok at 16:45 and arrives in Changde at 20:55. It sets off at 21:55 Beijing time and arrives at Bangkok at 00:20 local time. 


“The National Office of Port Administration approved that the Changde Taohuayuan Airport will be temporarily opened for three months, since December 8. One international flight will be operated during this period,” said the person in charge of the Changde Office of Port Administration. The first international passenger charter flight was a successful start. It marked that the Changde Taohuayuan Airport has become the third international airport in Hunan.


The Changde Taohuayuan Airport now has 13 air routes linking with 19 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Every week, 204 flights are operated. It has become one of China’s regional airports with annual passenger throughput of more than one million.
