2022 Hunan Energy Efficiency Promotion Week Launched

The 32nd National Energy Efficiency Promotion Week runs from June 13 to 19 this year. According to the deployment of the central government, the 2022 Hunan Energy Efficiency Promotion Week was launched at Malanshan Video Cultural and Creative Industrial Park in Changsha on June 13. 

With the theme of "prioritizing energy-saving in green development", the promotion week is jointly sponsored by the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Changsha Municipal Development and Reform Commission. During the promotion week, a range of activities will be held, including children's painting competition; plastic pollution treatment actions; smart grid enterprise presentations; online green and low-carbon knowledge competition; interpretation of energy-saving and carbon-reduction policies and regulations; and, exhibition of energy conservation achievements in enterprises, industrial parks, and universities.

At the exhibition site, typical cases such as the Dongjiang Lake Big Data Industrial Park and garbage sorting classes and the latest technologies are displayed. A person in charge of a participating company introduced that their self-developed energy-saving equipment has been used in various energy-saving projects in Hunan Province, including water plants, cement plants, paper mills, and smelteries. For instance, after energy-saving transformation, Changsha Houzishi Water Plant can cut power consumption by 25.5%.

Zhou Zhenhong, deputy director of the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission, introduced that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Hunan’s energy consumption intensity has dropped by more than 50%, and the energy consumption of added value of industrial enterprises above designated size has declined 35%. Hunan has fueled an average annual economic growth of 7.9% with an average annual energy consumption growth of 2.7%.

In the industrial field, 100 national green factories, 10 green industrial parks, and eight green supply chain enterprises have been approved successively.

In the construction field, six national prefabricated building demonstration cities and nine national prefabricated building industry bases have been established. Hunan was approved as the only pilot province for green construction by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-rural Development.

In the field of transportation, Changsha was approved as a national model city of green freight distribution, and Yueyang Port, as the only "green, circular, and low-carbon" inland river pilot port in China, has passed the national acceptance inspection.

In the field of public institutions, 103 public institutions have become demonstrative units for energy conservation. Hunan has 12 “Frontrunner” units for energy efficiency.
