Hunan has more than 50 ethnic groups. Minorities celebrate their Spring Festival almost the same day as the Han people, but they have different customs.
During the Spring Festival holiday, people of Yao Nationality enjoy " Wu Chun Niu (Spring Ox Dance)", a typical representative of Chinese traditional folk art. The dance is divided into three parts: greeting, playing with the ox and bidding farewell. The role of spring oxes is played by two young men, who wear gimp suit and black leggings. Ox head is made by bamboo slips and paper, and its body by home-made blue cloth.
