The Fine Arts and Calligraphy Exhibition of the 7th Hunan Arts Festival recently kicked off at the Qi Baishi Memorial Hall. Themed on “art festival for the people”, it gathers the latest creations of provincial calligraphy and arts. The exhibition has received 12,000 tourist arrivals and will last until February 20.

The exhibition brings together the fine arts and calligraphy creations for the “Qi Baishi Art Award”. It vividly presents the new style of Hunan art with a variety of art forms. A total of 272 works are on display, including 27 specially invited ones. Ten art works and 10 calligraphy works will be presented with the “Qi Baishi Art Award”.

The works have a wide range of themes and diverse styles, including those describing clean government culture, showing rural revitalization, and expressing the people’s yearning and pursuit of a better life. They convey the profoundness and strong sense of the times. They indicate that Hunan artists and calligraphers are actively paying attention to the current life scenes, and exploring and rethinking artistic creation in the context of the world's multi-polarization, economic globalization, cultural diversification, social informatization, and China's development in the new era.

The exhibition is jointly sponsored by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and Xiangtan Municipal People's Government, and co-organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Xiangtan Municipal Committee and the Xiangtan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, Film and Sports.
