2019 Hunan (Winter) Rural Cultural Tourism Festival

A press conference on the 2019 Hunan (Winter) Rural Cultural Tourism Festival was held in Changsha on December 10. It announced that the festival will take place at Baishuidong Scenic Area, Xinshao County, Shaoyang City between December 20 and 22.  
 
Themed “Splendid Hunan, Healthy and Long Life in Xinshao”, the festival will feature various activities, including:
--an opening ceremony;
--a tour to Baishuidong Scenic Area;
--Xinshao local food tasting;
--trips to Xinshao;
--a running race;
--Baishuidong international RV & bonfire music festival;
--a cultural works exhibition; and,
--special tourism products trade fair.

Visitors may enjoy free admission to Xinshao County’s all tourist attractions between December 20, 2019 and March 20, 2020. Thirty percent discount will be offered for events that were independently managed by scenic spots during the period. All starred hotels, farmhouses, and other rural tourist sites will offer varying degrees of discounts.  
 
In 2020, the county will hold two theme activities to explore how Bailong Karst Cave was formed and discover the secrets to a long life of the people living in the area. Experts, scholars, and tourists throughout the country will be invited.  
 
Xinshao County enjoys the reputation of the “Pearl of Central Hunan”. It has beautiful mountains, rivers, karst cave, waterfall, lakes, and forests. It is known for its tourist attractions including Baishuidong National Scenic Area, Changshou (Long Life) Qingshui Scenic Area, Yueping Mountain National Forest Park, and Baiyunyan Buddhist Shrine. 
 
The festival is hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Shaoyang Municipal People’s Government, and organized by the Shaoyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, TV and Sports, and the Xinshao County People’s Government.
