Xu Dazhe, Hunan governor, met with CBRGE foreign guests, including Somsavat Lengsavad, former executive deputy prime minister of Laos, and United Nations Green Ecology Society International Experts Committee president, in Changsha on December 5.

He Baoxiang, Hunan vice Governor, and Wang Qun, secretary general, also attended.

Governor Xu Dazhe said that this year marked the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Hunan is the hometown of Chairman Mao Zedong, the founder of the People’s Republic of China. He welcomed the guests to experience the great changes that have taken place in Hunan during the past 70 years. He introduced that in recent years Hunan has thoroughly implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; carried out new development ideas; and, given priority to ecology to achieve green development. It has implemented the innovation-led opening up and development strategy, and coordinated the economic development with ecological civilization construction. It has accelerated the development of strategic emerging industries such as energy conservation and environmental protection; fought against pollution; and, sped up green and intelligent manufacturing industrial advancement. The lucid waters and lush mountains are becoming calling cards of Hunan.

Hunan would take the hosting of CBRGE as an opportunity to draw on advanced experiences from developed countries, and play the bridge-building role of such international logistics channels as the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and the Hunan-Europe Express Line, to embrace the world in a more open and cooperative manner. We would like to work with the “Belt and Road” countries and the international organizations including the United Nations Green Ecology Society, to advance collaboration in the fields of ecology, trade, economy, education, and health, and make greater contributions to building a community of shared future for mankind, he added.

Somsavat Lengsavad believed that China has made astounding achievements in the past 70 years. Hunan has created many good experiences worth learning from in terms of environmental protection and the green industries development. Laos and Hunan have a long history of friendly exchanges. On this basis, Laos was willing to promote cooperation with Hunan in environmental protection, poverty alleviation, economy and trade, culture, education, and other aspects, to benefit the people of both sides.
