The Hunan Provincial People’s Government Information Office held a press conference on the construction progress of "100 major product innovation projects" on December 3. It was learned that the projects focusing on areas of weakness in industries have achieved significant benefits.

Huang Xuegong, chief engineer of the Hunan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, introduced that Hunan carried out 117 major product innovation projects worth 21.72 billion CNY in 2019, including 76 projects implemented since 2018 and 41 newly launched projects. A total investment of 7.305 billion CNY was expected to be made in 2019. By the end of November 2019, a total investment of 8.464 billion CNY has been made, meeting the set goal ahead of schedule.

This year many major product innovation projects have been completed and put into operation. Good economic and social benefits have been achieved, as a number of products have filled the gaps in the domestic market; technologies helped address inadequacies in industrial chains; and, a group of industries have become new engines to support economic growth.

These projects have provided a solid foundation for the implementation of the province's innovation-oriented opening up strategy. The National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Changsha) Testing Zone, the National Rail Transit Manufacturing Innovation Center (Zhuzhou Guochuang), and the National Cyber Security Industrial Park have successively settled in Hunan. By the end of November 2019, the 117 projects made breakthrough in 296 key technologies, involved 903 patent applications with 378 authorized, realized sales revenue of 21.257 billion CNY and contributed 926 million CNY in tax revenue.
