The year 2026 marks the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges. From June 8 to 11, the China-Hunan Film Week Comes to Africa-Kenya series events will be held in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. Offline film screenings and exhibitions, cultural exchanges, academic forums, among others, will be held, presenting a true, multi-dimensional, and comprehensive image of China.

Six iconic Hunan films will be screened—Yuan Longping; Mao Zedong and Qi Baishi; Ode to the Land; Tale of the Night; Special Party Branch; and When We Are Young, along with two internationally influential works—Hi, Mom, and Into the Mortal World. More than 20 film screening events will take place at venues including the Century Cinemax in Nairobi, United Nations Office at Nairobi, University of Nairobi, and Kenyatta University.

On June 8, the Hunan-Africa Film and Television Cooperation Forum was held at the University of Nairobi. Representatives from the Chinese and Kenyan film and television industries engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics such as content co-creation and talent cultivation. At the opening ceremony on June 9, dignitaries, film and television industry representatives, university faculty and students, and media professionals from China and Kenya gathered together to celebrate this grand occasion. On June 10, the Hunan delegation will participate in the UN's International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations event hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, featuring film screenings, the "Beautiful China · Splendid Hunan" calligraphy, painting, and photography exhibition, and a calligraphy experience activity.

This event is co-hosted by the Hunan Provincial Film Bureau, the Information Office of the Hunan Provincial People's Government, the Hunan Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and is organized by the Hunan International Communication Center, Xiaoxiang Film Group, and Hunan Broadcasting System International Channel.
