Hunan-Bahamas Agricultural Cooperation Achievements Exhibition and "Watermelon Banquet" Reception Held in Bahamas

The Hunan-Bahamas Agricultural Cooperation Achievements Exhibition and the "Watermelon Banquet" Reception were held in the Bahamas on January 6, 2025. Yan Jiarong, Chinese ambassador to the Bahamas; Sturrup, permanent secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister; Strachan, parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Gibson, representative of the Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources; and, Pickstock, executive chairman of the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation, attended the event and tasted watermelons and vegetables harvested from the cooperation project. Xu Zhengxian, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hunan Provincial People's Government, made a video speech.


Ambassador Yan spoke highly of Hunan Province and Linshi Agricultural Industrial Company's contributions to China-Bahamas agricultural cooperation. She noted that as China is willing to continue sharing its advanced concepts and technologies with countries in the Global South, including the Bahamas. She expected to see more China-Bahamas collaboration achievements in the agricultural sector. In his video message, Mr. Xu Zhengxian congratulated the event on its success and expressed his commitment to fostering cooperation between the two sides to achieve greater results.


Representatives from all walks of life of the Bahamas commended the achievements made by the Hunan-Bahamas Agricultural Demonstration Farm, and thanked China and Hunan for their donation and assistance of agricultural machinery, technology sharing, and capacity building. They expected to further expand exchanges and partnership on food security between the two countries.
