On November 26 and 27, the “China Danxia” World Natural Heritage Protection Conference was held in Xining County. The Danxia Conservation Alliance initiated by Hunan Province was set up at the conference, to better carry out Danxia landform protection and management.

Insider experts and heads of China’s seven world natural heritage sites including Guizhou’s Chishui, Fujian’s Taining, Hunan’s Langshan, Guangdong’s Danxia Mountain, Jiangxi’s Longhu Mountain and Guifeng, and Zhejiang’s Jianglang Mountain shared opinions on heritage site protection and management; scientific research; science popularization; heritage exhibition and monitoring; planning and construction; and, social development after the seven sites jointly obtained UNESCO World Natural Heritage status 11 years ago. They discussed plans to protect the world natural heritage sites.

Danxia landform is widely distributed in China. So far, 1,005 locations have been identified in 28 provinces across the country. On August 2, 2010, the "China Danxia" project led by Langshan Administration successfully obtained the World Natural Heritage status. Over the past 11 years, the 7 world natural heritage sites have continuously enhanced their protection and kept maintaining a good condition. Their protection and management experience was also shared at the 44th World Heritage Conference.

The meeting was hosted by the Hunan Forestry Bureau and China Danxia World Natural Heritage Protection Committee.
