2021-09-29 Download Print
Hengyang City officially established friendship-city ties with Yamoussoukro of Côte d’Ivoire, on the occasion of the 2nd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo which is being held in Changsha. This will provide new opportunities and a new platform to enhance exchange and mutual study between the two cities, and boost in-depth and pragmatic cooperation between Hunan and Africa.

Côte d’Ivoire, located in western Africa, established diplomatic relationships with China in 1983. Promoted by Chinese and Côte d’Ivoire governments, the economic and trade cooperation between the two counties have been constantly deepened, and the bilateral trade has grown steadily. China is currently the largest source of imported commodities and the third largest trade partner, and also a major investor and project contractor, for Côte d’Ivoire.

Hengyang and Yamoussoukro reached an intent on establishing a friendship city tie in this June. Since then, bilateral exchange and cooperation has been deepened, and economic and trade projects progressed smoothly. On September 16, the officials of the two cities contracted online on the construction projects of grain silos and modern warehouse for cashew nut storage and processing, based on the warehouse receipt system of Côte d'Ivoire.

Next, the two cities will further expand and deepen cooperation, and facilitate people-to-people interactions and economic and trade exchanges.
