The People’s Government of Hunan Province and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) held talks in Beijing on October 19, 2020. Xu Dazhe, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary and Hunan governor, and Xiao Yaqing, CPC Leadership Group secretary and MIIT minister, attended.
Governor Xu thanked MIIT for its long-term support to Hunan's economic and social development. He said that in recent years, Hunan has carried out the innovation-oriented opening up and the rise of Hunan strategy; focused on deep informatization and industrialization integration; formed such advantageous industries as construction machinery, rail transit, aerospace, electronic information, and new materials; hosted many major events like the World Computer Congress and the Space Day of China; and, established industrial innovation platforms such as the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Changsha) Test Zone, providing strong support for high-quality economic development. Hunan is now implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech made when inspecting Hunan; highlighting building the “three highlands” of important national advanced manufacturing industry, technological innovation with core competitiveness, and reform and opening up in inland areas; and, accelerating a strong manufacturing province construction. He expected MIIT to continue to support Hunan in the preparation of the "14th Five-Year" plan, as well as the cultivation of emerging advantageous industries, the development of leading enterprises, and intelligent manufacturing, so as to promote the high-quality development of Hunan's manufacturing industry.
Minister Xiao believed that since the beginning of this year, Hunan has made efforts to ensure stability on six fronts – employment, the financial sector, foreign trade, foreign investment, domestic investment, and expectations – while maintaining security in six areas: job security, basic living needs, operations of market entities, food and energy, stable industrial and supply chains, and the normal functioning of primary-level governments. Its industry has taken the lead in stabilizing and rebounding, and the provincial economic and social development maintained sound momentum. MIIT will carry forward the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech made when inspecting Hunan; continue to support Hunan to give full play to the advantages of its profound industrial foundation and rich innovative resources; further enhance its industrial infrastructure and industrial chain modernization; and, build an important national advanced manufacturing highland.
