On February 23, the 3rd group of 10 Hunan epidemiologists assembled at the Changsha South Railway Station to head for Huanggang, Hubei by the high-speed train G696. Li Junhua, director of Hunan CDC, said the team is composed of outstanding epidemiologists from Hunan’s disease prevention and control departments. It is led by Cai Liang, Party secretary, deputy chief and associate senior technologist of the Hunan CDC Microbiology Laboratory. He is also a candidate of both the CPC Hunan Provincial 121 Talent Program and the Hunan Health Commission 225 Talent Program.

While serving as the head of the second emergency team for epidemic prevention and control of Hunan CDC, Cai successfully handled 11 epidemic emergencies caused by unknown source in Yueyang, with the second largest confirmed cases in Hunan.

The other 9 members are pillars in the field of epidemiological investigation and laboratory testing in cities and prefecture. They all have been well-trained.

To date, Hunan has sent 3 groups of epidemiologists to offer pair-up support for Huanggang, as well as a large number of needy medical materials and other supplies. The epidemiological survey and testing team sent by Hunan CDC will further alleviate the shortage of disease control personnel in Huanggang and beef up the local epidemic prevention and control force.
