Between January 22 and February 9, 2020, a series of activities will be held at the Tongguan Kiln Ancient Town of Changsha to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival.
Drama Festival
Duration: January 22 - February 9, 2020
Activities:
Traditional operas with Hunan characteristics including Hunan Flower-drum Opera, Xinkang Shadow Play, Xiangxi Shadow Play, and Folk She Huo Parade, will be staged.
Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival
Duration: January 22 - February 9, 2020
Activities:
-Chinese traditional intangible cultural heritage techniques such as making dough figurines, sugar figures, ciba (glutinous rice cakes), and pottery will be presented.
-Tourists can participate in childhood games such as guessing lantern riddles, putting up New Year paintings, and throwing coins.
Food Festival
Duration: January 22 - February 9, 2020
Activities:
Snacks such as Tangyou Baba (glutinous rice cakes fried in sweet oil), stinky tofu, roasted pears, and sugar paintings will be displayed.
Folk Fun Festival on Fujie Street
Duration: January 25-31, 2020
Activities:
A temple fair featuring a variety of New Year goods and folk customs will be held.
Folk Customs Themed Activities
Duration: January 18-29, 2020
Activities:
-Making tofu (January 18)
-Making ciba (January 22)
-Making sweet wine (January 23)
-Setting off firecrackers and pasting the red Chinese character “Fu” (January 25)
-Touring Tongguan Kiln Ancient Town with mothers-in-law (January 26)
-Welcoming the God of Wealth, and offering sacrifices to the God of Kiln (January 29)
Lantern Festival Activities
Duration: February 8-9, 2020
Activities: lantern show, temple fair, guessing lantern riddles, floating river lanterns for New Year blessings.
