The first CJ6 EMU train started commercial operation on the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway on December 24, 2019. It was jointly developed by the Hunan Intercity Railway Co., Ltd. and the CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. The maiden train C7852 left Zhuzhou South Station at 6:48 AM for the Changsha West Station. It is the first Hunan-made EMU train running along the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway.
CJ6 EMU train is the first Hunan-made EMU serving domestic intercity railway. It has 2 motor and 2 trailer carriages, with a rated capacity of 681 and a maximum capacity of 897 passengers. It adopts public inter-city passenger transport service operations  during off-peak time. During peak hours, it can be rapidly adjusted into an 8-carriage marshaling to maximize its efficiency, or even a 16-carriage marshaling when necessary.
Zhou Qinghe, CPC CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. Committee secretary and chairman of the board, believed that the Hunan-made CJ6 EMUs will help upgrade Hunan’s rail transit equipment industry, promote the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan City Cluster integration, and fuel the high-quality development of Hunan economy. Such EMUs also enriched China’s intercity EMU product lineage, and increased the diversity of intercity railway equipment, he added.
