The “envoys” will participate in international exchange activities on behalf of the university, to present traditional Chinese medicine to the world.

Hunan is a large producer of products for traditional Chinese medicine in China, with the total standing stock volume ranking second nationwide. Hunan’s traditional Chinese medicine industry has great development potential, as it has been listed as one of the 20 competitive emerging industrial chains by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People’s Government.

The university is among the first batch of Chinese medicinal educational institutions enrolling doctoral candidates, overseas students, and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students.

"The university established the world's first research-oriented Confucius Institute, collaborating with Hunan Normal University and South Korea's Wonkwang University. It is among the first batch of Chinese medicine universities to establish Confucius Institute abroad. The move effectively promotes the international influence of traditional Chinese medicine," said Qin Yuhui, secretary of the CPC Hunan University of Chinese Medicine Committee. Qin added that the university will continue to establish long-term cooperative relations with universities in the United States, U.K., France, Australia, Spain, and other countries and regions, and continuously promote international exchanges and cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine.
