Silk Road Urban Alliance 2019 (Zhangjiajie) Annual General Meeting Kicks off

The Silk Road Urban Alliance  2019 (Zhangjiajie) Annual General Meeting was held on December 9, 2019. It was organized by the China Association for Friendship (CAF), the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC), and the Zhangjiajie Municipal People's Government. More than 200 guests from 53 cities worldwide participated. He Baoxiang, Hunan vice governor, attended and made a speech.
 
Vice Governor He, on behalf of the People’s Government of Hunan Province, welcomed the guests. He said, “Hunan is actively integrating into the ‘Belt and Road’ initiative construction with an open attitude, and accelerating the ‘opening up and rise of Hunan’ strategy. It has established economic and trade cooperation relations with more than 200 countries and regions, and sister-city ties with 90 provinces, states, and cities in 30 countries.” He expected this event to lay a foundation for a platform for strengthening exchanges and cooperation and promoting mutual benefits, which will facilitate sharing development achievements and creating a better future in international city exchanges and economic and trade cooperation.
 
The Silk Road Urban Alliance is a thematic working mechanism dedicated to cooperation and development among cities of the Belt and Road countries and regions . It was jointly initiated by SRCIC and CAF in 2018. Zhangjiajie was elected as the first rotating chair. Over the past year, Zhangjiajie has established “Silk Road Stations” in 13 cities including Berlin, Germany; Tokyo, Japan; and, Seoul, Republic of Korea.
 
The “Belt and Road” Culture and Tourism Integration and High-quality Development Forum, the Zhangjiajie International Sister Cities Forum, and other activities, were held during the session. Participants carried out in-depth exchanges and discussions on the promotion of the “Belt and Road” culture and tourism integration and high-quality development.
