Chinese Traditional Music Symphony Concert Staged in Changsha

On December 9, a large-scale Chinese traditional music symphony concert, titled "Splendid Xiaoxiang", was held at the Changsha Concert Hall. The concert was hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and organized by the Hunan Xiang Opera Theatre. Nearly 1,000 Chinese and foreign guests attended, including representatives from overseas Confucius Institutes, the International Society for Chinese Language Learning, and heads from Chinese Department and Chinese language teaching research institutions of foreign universities. These guests came to Hunan for the 2019 International Chinese Language Education Conference. Chinese Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun, Hunan Vice Governor Wu Guiying, and Durnov Vyacheslav, Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism, were present.
The concert began with the Chinese classic music “Festival Overture”. Classic folk songs including “Liuyang River”, an erhu concerto “Central Hunan Ballade”, and Chinese national instrumental music suona solo "Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix " were staged. Classic excerpts of Xiang opera, flower-drum opera, Peking opera, and Kunqu opera, and Guqin (Chinese zither) performance enchanted Chinese and foreign guests. The concert ended with a magnificent Chinese and Western percussion concerto "The Sun".  
The gala event featured Hunan’s culture, highlighted Hunan artists’ exquisite techniques, and presented Chinese nation’s confidence in traditional Chinese culture and the charm of music. It harvested rapturous applause.
The concert was performed by the Hunan National Traditional Orchestra . The Hunan Xiang Opera Theatre, Hunan Vocational College of Art, Hunan Flower Drum Opera Protection and Inheritance Center, and Hunan Peking Opera Protection and Inheritance Center also participated in the performances.
