The Hunan (Changsha) Machinery  Exhibition opened in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia on November 19. Thirty-two Hunan-based enterprises such as Sany, Zoomlion, and Sunward presented their cranes, excavators, and drilling machines.

The exhibition was a move to implement the innovation-oriented opening-up strategy mapped out by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and promote Hunan’s equipment manufacturing products in Cambodia. It was also an important measure to integrate into the national “Belt and Road” initiative and play a vital role in deepening cooperation between Changsha and Cambodia.

The event was hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce and the Changsha Municipal People’s Government.

A number of projects worth 1.392 billion USD were contracted at the event, including:
Sany’s evacuator purchase project;
Hunan Construction Engineering Group’s Koh Norea satellite city project ; and,
Hongxing Industrial Group’s China-Cambodia banana cooperation project.

Cambodia and Changsha are highly complementary in economy. They have great potential in international capacity cooperation, economic and trade investment, infrastructure connectivity, and agriculture. From January to September 2019, Changsha's foreign trade with Cambodia reached 86.808 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 210.9%. Up to now, Changsha has invested in 13 projects in Cambodia with a total investment of 227 million USD, involving pharmaceutical manufacturing, chemicals production, and agriculture.

Changsha will give full play to its favorable location on the transitional “belt” connecting the eastern China coastal area with the central and western China, and in the junction “zone” between the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Coastal Economic Belt; focus on integrating into “Belt and Road” initiative; accelerate the “go global” action; improve openness of manufacturing industry; and, support manufacturing enterprises to allocate resources worldwide, in order to achieve high-quality manufacturing development.
