The Hunan Provincial Tourist Attraction Rating Commission issued an announcement on November 19, 2019. It said that 3 scenic areas -- Yongzhou Tongzi’ao Scenic Area, Yongzhou Jiangyong Goulan Yao Village Scenic Area, and Huaihua Xupu Chuanyan Mountain Scenic Area, were qualified as the national 4A level tourist attractions.

Tongzi’ao Scenic Area is located in Shuangpai County, Yongzhou City, and dubbed as the “No.1 Ginkgo Village of China”. There are more than 200 ginkgo trees, of which more than 90 are more than a hundred years old. They make an amazing golden scene during late autumn and early winter every year.

Goulan Yao Village in Lanxi Yao Township, Jiangyong County is a well-preserved ancestral home of the Yao people. It boasts magnificent mountains and waters, and rich folk customs. There are more than 300 dwellings dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. Folk cultural traditions such as “Mud-washing Festival” are well inherited.

Chuanyan Mountain National Forest Park in Xupu County features ancient villages, terraced fields, mountain peaks, and gorges. It integrates landscape sightseeing, leisure vacation, outdoor sports, cultural experience, and science popularization.

Person in charge of the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism said that the 3 new national 4A-level tourist attractions are located in countryside. This will help upgrade the quality of rural tourism products, assist rural people to get rid of poverty, and accelerate local economic and social development.
